Supporting Forest Restoration in Argentina with WeForest

We're all about rocking rainwear with a purpose! That's why we've teamed up with WeForest, the non-profit organization dedicated to cool the planet by restoring threatened tropical forests across the world.

Why WeForest?

After thorough research and consideration, we were captivated by the comprehensive approach and impactful initiatives offered by WeForest, aligning seamlessly with our mission to take climate action. That's why WeForest emerges as the clear choice for driving positive environmental change. Here's how WeForest is reshaping the reforestation landscape with four groundbreaking initiatives:

We Restore - WeForest goes beyond growing trees; they're true forest whisperers, dedicated to restoring tropical landscapes. Through groovy collaborations and partnerships, WeForest crafts tailor-made restoration strategies for each unique ecosystem.

We Engage - Forget boring tree-growing schemes! WeForest is all about getting their hands dirty and empowering local communities. By training local farmers in sustainable agriculture and beekeeping, WeForest is turning locals into environmental champions!

We Measure - How do we know WeForest's tree-growing mojo is working? With hardcore monitoring and research, of course! WeForest crunches the numbers to track the environmental and social impact of their projects, making sure every tree counts.

We Research - WeForest isn't just growing trees – they're growing ideas! Partnering with top-notch researchers, they're cooking up innovative solutions to save forests, and ultimately - the planet.

Taking Climate Action

poncho papi is proud to stand alongside WeForest in their mission to cool the planet by restoring threatened tropical forests worldwide. Among the myriad projects spearheaded by WeForest, our hearts were drawn to the captivating landscapes of Misiones, Argentina, where they're working with Fundación Vida Silvestre. This region not only hosts the largest remaining tract of Interior Atlantic Forest but also shelters a significant sub-population of jaguars and other endangered species.

Some insights on the project

Restoration and Protection - We're working with 49 smallholder farmers to restore farmland into forest patches, creating vital connections between protected areas like the Yabotí Biosphere Reserve, Piñalito and Cruce Caballero Provincial Parks.

Preserving Biodiversity - The project aims to safeguard the habitats of endangered species like jaguars and giant anteaters, ensuring their continued survival in the face of habitat loss.

Sustainable Livelihoods - By implementing agroforestry practices and providing improved water access, we're supporting farmers to cultivate yerba mate sustainably. This not only boosts their incomes but also reduces reliance on forest resources.

Creating a Sustainable Future - Our efforts not only restore forests but also promote sustainable land management practices, benefiting both local communities and the environment.
